This is a lovely wee book about the principle of 'pay it forward' - each animal has a good deed done to them, and in turn does a good deed to another animal.
The end is a little odd, and makes the hen seem kind of selfish: at the start she gives the pig an egg, and at the end of the book pig hatches the egg and brings the chick back to hen - it seemed to me that the hen just wanted someone else to hatch her egg! However, children don't seem to notice this, and just get the 'pay it forward' message. Maybe I'm reading too much into it?
