dinosaur VS Bedtime

Dinosaur vs. Bedtime
Written and Illustrated by Bob Shea

Publication date: 2008
Publisher: Hyperion Books for Children
ISBN: 978-1-4231-1335-5

Summary/Back cover:
Roaaaar! Roaar! Nothing can stop me!

Nothing can stop little dinosaur—not talking grownups, spaghetti, or even bath time. But what happens when he faces the biggest challenge of all…bedtime?

With spare text and irresistible dinosaur roaaars, little dinosaurs will be begging for this book to be read again and again.

Review:
Although this seems like it might be a good bedtime book, it causes my 3 year old to go to bed yelling "Roar, roar, roar!" - the word 'roar' appears in the book around 60 times (yeah, I counted...) from a total wordcount of less than 140! It's quite a cute wee book, appealing very much to little boys who love to pretend to be dinosaurs (or anything else ferocious and roar-y), but it didn't do much for me as the Mum that has to read it aloud over and over.

The illustrations are simple but effective for the story - and the different facial expressions of the dinosaur are well done.

If you have young boys in your house, do read them this book - they'll love it, even if you find it a bit repetitive to read to them!

My rating: 3.5 out of 5
