Review:
The back cover of the book says it all, really - this is written in the style of all those Haynes car manuals that your Dad or Grandad had in the garage while you were growing up, but is for the little boys (3-7 years old, is the recommendation).

This is not a story book, but more of a non-fiction (apart from that it's a non-fiction book about a fictional character - how does that work?!) informational book.  My train-mad 3 year old spends hours poring over the pictures, pointing out interesting things, and then asking what this bit says, and what that bit says.  He's also able to apply the information he's learnt from this book to the real-life railway we have beside our house.

If you have a little boy that obsesses over trains, then this is definitely a book to get for him - a bit more grown-up than other Thomas books, and full of Really Interesting Facts about trains!

My rating: 4.5 out of 5
